As I sit down to write this piece, I have just finished a spicy chicken sandwich, waffle fries, and chocolate shake from the greatest fast food chain in the country. Any liberal who reads this will undoubtedly be forced to cringe: mission accomplished. It appears that there are some – or maybe many – among our oligarch ruling class, who feel that Chick-fil-A restaurants should be boycotted and prevented from opening up shop; particularly in Boston and Chicago. This week, both Mayors Tom Menino of Boston and Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, fired shots across the bow of the Atlanta-based company. What cardinal sin has been committed by Chick-fil-A? What great offense are they guilty of?
The latest skirmish in the nation’s culture wars began when Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press that the company was “guilty as charged” for backing “the biblical definition of a family.” In a later radio interview, he ratcheted up the rhetoric: “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.’”
That fired up gay rights advocates, including a group that waged a campaign against the company in recent years by publicizing $3 million in contributions that the Cathy family foundation has made to conservative organizations such as the Family Research Council.
“This solidifies Chick-fil-A as being closely aligned with some of the most vicious anti-gay voices in the country,” said Carlos Maza of Equality Matters.
So in the United States of 2012, we have a private company run by Christians who favor traditional marriage between a man and a woman and we’re supposed to view that as controversial? The Tampa Bay Times runs this Associated Press story, and we’re supposed to read it and agree that Dan Cathy must be an intolerant homophobe; not to mention a hick. Conservative Christians who support Chick-fil-A and support their stance on traditional marriage, they’re nothing but hapless southern inbreds. For taking a strong stance on faith and their beliefs, Cathy and the Chick-fil-A folks are the “most vicious anti-gay voices in the country”. How completely absurd is that statement? But it’s no shock coming from the mouth of a brain-dead liberal like this Maza clown. Individuals, groups, and yes – even those evil corporations – are allowed to have opinions and they’re allowed to donate to whatever causes they want, Mr. Maza.
It amuses me that the media and liberals characterize anyone who supports traditional marriage as being “anti-gay”. Yesterday, the Chicago Sun Times ran a piece detailing Mayor Emanuel’s opposition to the fast food food chain expanding in Chicago.
“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values,” Emanuel said Wednesday.
“What the CEO has said as it relates to gay marriage and gay couples is not what I believe, but more importantly, it’s not what the people of Chicago believe. We just passed legislation as it relates to civil union and my goal and my hope … is that we now move on recognizing gay marriage. I do not believe that the CEO’s comments … reflects who we are as a city.”
I’m sure if Dan Cathy was an Alinskyite community organizer, Emanuel would be pushing for a Chick-fil-A on every city corner – not just in Chicago but across the country.
Why do we allow politicians to get away with such asinine statements. Chick-fil-A doesn’t respect families? Does anyone with half a brain really buy this? This is the same mayor that attempted to curb gang violence in Chicago by appealing to the “values” of the gang-bangers. That plea went unheard so now he’s enlisted the help of race hustler Louis Farrakhan to put an end to the violence. What a complete joke. These two clowns were made for each other. But I digress.
So now we have private businesses being demonized not only by our president but by liberal mayors. A CEO of a company is outspoken about his personal beliefs and so therefore he has to be prevented from expanding his business, from creating more jobs, and creating more wealth. Who are these politicians to decide what businesses operate in the cities and which of them don’t?
Mayor Menino spoke out earlier this week about the fast food chain opening up on the Freedom Trail in Boston. He’s now backtracking:
Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino repeated today that he doesn’t want Chick-fil-A in Boston, but he backed away from a threat to actively block the fast-food chain from setting up shop in the city.
“I can’t do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there,” Menino said, referring to company president Dan Cathy, who drew the mayor’s wrath by going public with his views against same-sex marriage…
Menino acknowledged Cathy’s freedom to express his views, but was unapologetic about his own tough stance that’s become national news.
“Some people might not like these positions, but as mayor of the city of Boston, you can’t run and hide, and I’ll always protect people’s rights,” Menino said. “I’m right out front there and if people don’t like it, I feel sorry for them. But I’m the mayor of Boston and I get elected to make my opinions known.”
Let me ask you. Is Chick-fil-A infringing upon the rights of anyone? Is Dan Cathy infringing upon the rights of anyone? No. The only people who infringe upon people’s rights are liberal hacks like Menino and Emanuel. Chick-fil-A opening up in your city means jobs, wealth creation, economic stimulus. But these bozos don’t want to hear that. There only concerned about government stimulus – which fails every time it’s tried.
Nobody elected you to ramble on about your opinions and views, Menino. The people of Boston elected to you to run the city with some level of competence. But you’re clearly incapable as is your liberal hack governor – Deval Patrick.
You see folks it’s okay for these morons to spout their views and force reckless legislation down the throats of their constituents, but if a private citizen – especially a CEO – opens his mouth about an issue, that is beyond the pale.
Liberals are supposed to be individuals of tolerance, understanding, and acceptance, yet they are the exact opposite. They will bestow all of those things upon you as long as you agree with them. Disagree with them and you become a target.

Great post! I hope this whole thing backfires in the faces of all the leftist morons out there who started the whole stupid uproar in the first place.
