
For someone who has been focused “like a laser” on job creation, Barack Obama is instead focused “like a laser” on his re-election and shoring up the Democrat base as we head closer to November. In what would have created roughly 13,000-20,000 new jobs with tens of thousands of supporting jobs, the new Keystone XL project was denied permitting by the White House, and in typical Obama fashion, the president blamed congressional Republicans who supposedly forced his hand. Obama had until February 21 to make his decision but who cares about that small tidbit of information. Instead he released the following statement on January 18 because he was so “rushed” by Republicans:
Earlier today, I received the Secretary of State’s recommendation on the pending application for the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. As the State Department made clear last month, the rushed and arbitrary deadline insisted on by Congressional Republicans prevented a full assessment of the pipeline’s impact, especially the health and safety of the American people, as well as our environment.
