The Dear Leader was in my home state of Florida on Thursday – making an appearance at Walt Disney World Orlando to promote his new “tourism plan” which aims to not only bring more travelers to the U.S., but to put more Americans back to work as part of his “We Can’t Wait” program. The new plan, which is being implemented by yet another executive order, will supposedly make it easier for international tourists who are attempting to travel to and from the U.S.
According to Matt Compton of the official White House Blog:
He (Obama) announced efforts to expand the Global Entry Program, which makes it easier for frequent visitors to the United States — who’ve undergone a background check — to travel in and out of our borders. He told the audience that he’d directed his administration to add additional nations to the list of those whose citizens are allowed to visit America without a tourist visa. And in (a) changing world where the middle class is booming in places like China, India, and Brazil, the President announced steps to make it easier for people from those countries to choose the United States as a place for their vacations.
The middle class is booming all over the developing world, but not here. Our middle class is in regression. Mission accomplished, Mr. President.
Of course Compton conveniently leaves out the “additional nations” from his posting. What are these “other countries” that Obama has now added to the list? I’d like to know. Wouldn’t you? The official White House press release (dated January 19) mentions that nine new countries have been added to the Visa Waiver Program, but only cites one of them by name – Taiwan. According to the press release, Obama’s announcement “offers important steps to bolster job creation through a range of steps to better promote the United States as a tourism destination and improve secure visa processing.” Translation: more regulation and more bureaucracy, but less scrutiny of foreigners going in and out of the country.
Speaking on Main Street USA with the Magic Kingdom as his backdrop, Obama declared: “The more folks who visit America, the more Americans we get back to work. It’s that simple.” If only it were that simple, Mr. President. We’ll have more Americans getting back to work when you’re no longer residing in the White House.
Let me address several points here….
As to executive orders:
George W. Bush was criticized by the Left for the executive orders he issued during his two terms as president, but yet Obama somehow gets a pass from the media and the left. Every time I turn around he’s “directing” his administration to do something. Barack Obama has issued 108 executive orders since 2009. Bush issued 291 over an eight-year period. You do the math.
As to this new executive order creating jobs:
There has not been one policy or “directive” implemented by this administration that has resulted in a single job. Not one.
Government helps foster an environment for growth by lowering taxes, lessening regulation and getting out of the way. This allows for the private sector to flourish. It allows for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and corporations in general to cultivate growth and create wealth. Government does nothing but destroy wealth.
The Obama administration has followed the failed philosophy of John Maynard Keynes and just look at the destruction it has caused. Instead of relying on Reaganomics, there has been a reliance on Obamanomics – higher taxes, more regulation, more bureaucracy, and more government at every turn.
If Barack Obama cared about job creation as much as he claims, he would study what Ronald Reagan did in the 1980’s and follow that example. But, the fact of the matter is that he doesn’t care about growth in the private sector or putting more people back to work. His focus is on getting re-elected and he will do this by creating more dependents. He will do this by giving his base more hand-outs. The “Food Stamp President” (hat-tip to Newt Gingrich) wants as many people as possible feeding from the public trough and he’s put more people on the public dole than any president in U.S. history. As reported by the New York Times last month, Obama isn’t concerned with targeting white working class voters for re-election. His focus is on shoring up the votes of those who don’t work. I.E. a large swath of the Democrat voting bloc. He continuously claims to have a “laser-like focus” on jobs but his real focus is on the takers in our society and he’s doing a pretty good job of pandering to those individuals.
