As I sit down to write this piece, I have just finished a spicy chicken sandwich, waffle fries, and chocolate shake from the greatest fast food chain in the country. Any liberal who reads this will undoubtedly be forced to cringe: mission accomplished. It appears that there are some – or maybe many – among our oligarch ruling class, who feel that Chick-fil-A restaurants should be boycotted and prevented from opening up shop; particularly in Boston and Chicago. This week, both Mayors Tom Menino of Boston and Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, fired shots across the bow of the Atlanta-based company. What cardinal sin has been committed by Chick-fil-A? What great offense are they guilty of? Continue Reading
The Environmental Protection Agency’s Al Armendariz has resigned after incriminating two-year old footage was leaked last week. Armendariz – whom the AP described as the “Obama administration’s top environmental official in the oil-rich South Central region” – delivered his formal resignation letter to EPA head Lisa Jackson.
In the letter, Armendariz said the following:
“As I have expressed publicly, and to you directly, I regret comments I made several years ago that do not in any way reflect my work as regional administrator. As importantly, they do not represent the work you have overseen as EPA administrator,” he wrote. “I take great pride in having built a career based on integrity and hard work. These are the principles that guide me personally as well. While I feel there is much work that remains to be done for the people of this country in the region that I serve, after a great deal of thought and careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that my continued service will distract you and the agency from its important work.”

The Obama administration fielded a weak defense of the legislation this week as three days of oral arguments allowed for many of the Justices to pile on Solicitor General Donald Verrilli. The audio and transcripts are available at the Supreme Court website. Continue Reading
Although Mitt Romney is favored to win today’s Sunshine State showdown, national excitement is high as voters clamor to see whether Romney does indeed pick up Florida’s 50 delegates later tonight. The Associated Press is reporting that Romney booked the Tampa Convention Center for his “night celebration” while canceling a rally scheduled for this morning. Newt Gingrich was scheduled to make a pit stop in Orlando at the First Baptist Church of Windermere before jetting off to Lakeland, Plant City, Celebration, and back to Orlando for his own end-of-the-night festivities at the Rosen Centre Hotel. Neither Ron Paul nor Rick Santorum will be in Florida for tonight’s results. Paul has already been focusing on the Maine caucuses, while Santorum has been tending to his three-year old daughter, Bella, who was hospitalized over the weekend. The former Pennsylvania senator was scheduled to hold a 10 am rally at the Lone Tree Golf Club Lounge in Lone Tree, Colorado. Continue Reading
